  • Many breeds make wonderful family pets but it ultimetly comes down to what your family is looking for. You would want to stay away from tiny dogs like Yorkies and Pugs that could easily be crushed by rambuncious children, as well as aggressive breeds like pit bulls [while yes I do understand that they can be wonderufl but it relies so heavily on heritage and early handeling and you don't really want to take chances with young children around] or anything too large for you to handle [For example, Great Danes and Saint Bernards are wondeful and loving working dogs with strong protective urgers espcially around thier familes but they are very large and strong].. . Odviouse choices for ideal pets include Labadore Reterivers and Golden Reterviers but German Sheperds are also family orinated. Labadoodles, Collies, Shealties and Siberain Huskies also make wonderful dogs. I don’t know your living conditions or how much time you and your family will be away from home so I can’t give you anything more specfific as long as they WHY. Some breeds are horrible if left alone for too long so if no one is home throughout the day that would cause problems for the dogs.. . Mutts are also wonderful breeds. Most have excellent temperments as they oftentimes combine the best of the breeds that they share hertiage with.. . As for WHERE to get your dog, NEVER, ever, EVER buy them from a pet shop in a mall. Just don’t, okay? Thos dogs come from puppymills which are extremely unhealthy enviroments for dogs. Mothers are breed too closely together and at a too young age. Health problems run rampage with these dogs. Many even die early on. Always make sure if you buy a purbreed from someone it’s from a respected breeder who knows exactly what he or she is doing and knows how best to take care of the breed. Shealters are also wonderful obtions since, believe it or not, there are numerous purebreed dogs there too. And what’s even better? You’re saving a life. Win-win.
